Navratri - Festival of Dolls!!!
Navratri'2016 is nearing...and we have to make preparations for setting up golu dolls in different themes like park, beach, mountains, city, village. Navratri is not only about arranging dolls in steps like the same way we did the previous year..it can be boring if we repeat the same every year... we can make navratri more special and lively by doing creative themes and making hand crafts.
Here are some ideas to have a creative Golu that will attract everyone who comes to your home..
1) Create your own dolls, mountains, waterfall, temple, palace, etc for golu using any of the following -

Here are some ideas to have a creative Golu that will attract everyone who comes to your home..
1) Create your own dolls, mountains, waterfall, temple, palace, etc for golu using any of the following -
- polymer clay
- paper mache
- ice cream sticks
- cardboard

2) If you have small kids in your home, ask them to prepare some simple chart works, drawings just like they do for school projects and keep them in Golu so that they come up with creative ideas.
People who come to your house during navratri will appreciate the work done by your small kids which will be very encouraging for them and they will plan for more creative project for next year golu..

3) Create some themes which have moral value or message - like themes of organic gardens, global warming, save water, animals, etc which you can explain to the small kids who come to your house during navratri, this way small kids can grow up as more responsible citizens.
4) You can also setup themes like interesting places to visit in India that you might have visited or have known about..and ask your kids to explain them to visitors of navratri so that kids become more bold and will get mature in explaining topics to others..
Last year we created this below theme - Gangtok which is a hilly place located in Sikkim, India.
5) Its a tradition to give gifts and sundal to people who come to our house during navratri. We can gift small toys for small kids who come to our house and encourage them to sing, dance or tell some story.
